Yes, for sure!!

I definitely love just running for myself and not worrying too much about some random goal or race. That said…

I’m also struggling slightly for inspiration as I don’t have any big (random!) events or goals lined up! 😂

I am a paradox!!

The struggle is real 😂 and thanks for sharing that. Life is always a challenge, even in the little things.

🤪 Seriously though, it's a yes, but also a no. I make a point of not having time or distance goals, but I do try to run three times a week for an hour. That's a goal. I try to run with friends once a week. That's a goal. I try to run without pain. That's a goal.

People who say running is like brushing your teeth? That's fine, but brushing my teeth when I wake up and before I go to sleep is also a goal!

There's a big, complex conversation to be had about true hedonism as related to running, but I don't believe it truly exists in my portion of society.

😂 I totally agree with you. And I totally appreciate your comment. It’s a bit like thinking about what is a goal and what is not a goal or are goals in sports or running different? Or have different values? Because every action has a goal… and that’s the struggle I had after I thought that I have no “real”(?! What is real?) goal for the summer. 🤷🏻😄

It was a very conscious decision for me to move away from racing races in about 2018. I had already lost the desire but accepting a new way was kinda fun, even if it was as uncomfortable as doing anything new. It has allowed me to focus on different ways to achieve joy through running, and I don't mind it. Much more relaxed now (necessary, perhaps).
