Ha, sorry for being late with catching up on your postings, I somehow get a few Substacks as actual Newsletters and a few only pop up in the Substack app. Haven't found out why yet. I was stoked to read this one, though! "Do you have a place like this?" --> Yes, the Allgäu, too. ;-) My family has roots in this region. My dad was born and met my mum there. Also my grandpa ran the Grüntenhaus for many years and I spent literally every summer on the Grünten from age 6 to 16. I wrote a bit about the Allgäu and what it means to my family in an article I wrote for Laufzeit Magazine last year: https://dasz.substack.com/p/like-son-like-father
